UPRISING
JAPAN

Winner of the New York Film Festivals Social Issues Award 2016 and Netflix Prize nominee of the same year, Uprising is a documentary about the use of modern technology by citizen journalists who report on social protest movements around the world.

Directed by Barney Lankester-Owen and Susanna Lira, the film follows street protest movements in Brazil, Hong Kong, Mexico and Gaza through the unique perspective of local participators who use simple yet effective technology such as livestreaming, drones, and film projectors to document the social unrest in their countries.
