Flow Films crafts unique artist portrait videos that are immersive journeys into the heart and mind of the artist, capturing their creative process, inspirations, and the essence of their work.
Artists we have been lucky enough to work with include Doug Aitken, Ben Eine, Ernesto Neto, Yayoi Kusama, Flora Yukhnovich, Andreas Gursky, Maria Nepomuceno, Richard Ikhide, Tainan Cabral, Hugo França and many more.
Nigerian-born London based artist Richard Ikhide opened his intimate studio process up to us during the creation of his paintings ‘Acts of Creation’
Flow was commissioned to make a film and photograph the creation of artworks by street artist Ben Eine for the world’s first ever air gallery on board Virgin Atlantic flights between London and JFK.
Flow was commissioned by Victoria Miro Gallery to make a series of videos about artist Flora Yukhnovich in Venice and London. The films explore Flora’s 3 month residency in Venice, the Italian rococo paintings there that inspired her and working at home in her London studio.
What sets Flow Films apart is the ability to blend cinematic storytelling with an intimate exploration of the artist’s world. The authenticity and richness of the content contribute to a more profound appreciation of the artist’s work, fostering a connection that extends beyond the gallery walls. We produced the video to accompany Doug Aitken’s VR exhibition ‘Open’ which guides viewers through the digital artworks with the artist’s voice.
We took a walk in the forest behind the artist’s house in Rio de Janeiro where Maria Nepomuceno related a story of how her own pregnancy and artworks intertwined.
For the launch of his exhibition ‘Medley’, Rio de Janeiro artist Tainan Cabral took inspiration from the sounds and colours of the favela street party, Baile Funk.
Hugo Franca transforms fallen trees from the forest into objects, sculptures and furniture. We gained acccess to his studio in Sao Paulo to witness the transformation for Crane TV.
Using VR technology, we recorded specialised camera moves around 3D
models of Kusama’s works to showcase specific attributes of the
artworks.
French Entrepreneur Alexandre Allard purchased an abandoned hospital in central São Paulo and, before converting it into a luxury hotel, invited Brazilian artist to ‘invade’ the space with temporary artworks.
